A book from the series “Ritterkreuzträger des Heeres” (Knight’s Cross Bearers of the Army), No. 1: Oberst (Colonel) Lohmeyer. By: Kurt Gloger, Aufwärts-Verlag, Berlin. Published by order of the High Command of the Army. The book features a photo of Oberst Karl Lohmeyer and tells his life story. He was born in Dec 1893 in Königsberg (modern day Kaliningrad, Russia) and died in Jan 1942 near the Tigoda river at the Eastern Front as Commander of the infantry regiment 505, part of the 291st infantry division. Official sources say he was killed by a mortar shell, however the book states that he was shot by a sniper.
