Germany, Heer. A Private Wartime Photo Album from an Eastern Front Veteran

(Heer Fotoalbum). A very well-preserved private wartime Heer photo album, constructed of a card stock binding with a faux brown leather exterior liner. The cover bears a raised, silvered, non-magnetic metal Stahlhelm insignia. Both the obverse and reverse of the spine are perforated with two holes, reinforced with magnetic metal eyelets, through which is looped a threaded drawstring which securely fastens the album together. The first half of the album depicts the owner in Reichsheer and Heer uniforms, on maneuvers and exercises with other military personnel. The first wartime photographs depict him with other Wehrmacht personnel in occupied France in 1940, and includes scenes of Parish. The remaining photographs depict the owners with Wehrmacht personnel advancing in the Soviet Union in 1941, and includes scenes of towns devastated by bomb damage. Notably, the interior of the cover depicts the owner at home on leave above an Eastern Front Medal ribbon. With the exception of the aforementioned captions, the album is unmarked and measures 315 mm (w) x 210 mm (h). Age-appropriate material fatigue is evident, including some cracking and tearing of the spine. The album otherwise presents intact, with no evidence of missing photos, and is in an overall better than very fine condition.
