What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

A Soldbuch to Wehrmacht Heer Infantry Obergefreiter Josef Hohlmeier

This soldbuch was issued to Josef Hohlmeier on April 2, 1941. According to the entries on page two, he was born on October 2, 1901 in Hinterwössen (Southern Bavaria), was raised a catholic, and worked as a salesman. He was 1.73 meters tall, with an oval face, without a beard, a strong figure, dark hair, and grey eyes. He wore size 42 shoes, and is marked as “someone who wears glasses” under special characteristics. After being drafted, he was promoted to Gefreiter (Lance Corporal equivalent) on January 1, 1942, and to Obergefreiter (Senior Lance Corporal equivalent) on May 1, 1945. Hohlmeier was transferred and deployed to multiple units, including the 2nd Company of Infantry Replacement Battalion 423, 3rd Company of Rifleman Replacement Battalion 7, 1st Marching Company of the Training Detachment Chief of Transportation, Wehrmacht Transportation Leadership Central, transport Headquarters Karlsruhe, Homeland Security Replacement Battalion 7, Infantry Replacement Battalion 67, Grenadier Replacement Battalions 81, 465, 111, 512, 23, and 222, as well as Field Replacement Battalion 702. He was married to Elfriede Schneider. The soldbuch includes entries to the uniform pieces he was issued, and vaccinations. The soldbuch contains an additional unusual detail - Hohlmeier’s artificial dentures broke on April 7th, 1945, while he was trying to chew hard bread. The soldbuch measures 103 mm x 145 mm, in better than very fine condition, with most of the writing clearly legible, but with light creasing and a period field-repaired spine. (C: 152)
