What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, Heer. A Soldbuch to Leutnant Walter Reinhard, 110th Infantry Regiment

(Heer Soldbuch). A Soldbuch named to Leutnant Walter Reinhard of the 33rd Infantry Division, dated 31 August 1939, measuring 105 mm (w) x 145 mm (h), bound in a card stock folio with a faux red leather exterior, the cover with a black Wehrmacht-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika and an inscription of “DEUTSCHES REICH SOLDBUCH”, measuring 105 mm (w) x 162 mm (h), material fatigue evident, otherwise in very fine condition.

Footnote: Walter Reinhard was born on 24 September 1915 in Sandhausen, Germany. He initially served in the 110th Infantry Regiment, attached to the 33rd Infantry Division, where he saw action in the Western Campaign in the spring of 1940. The division later remained in France as an occupation force. The 110th Infantry Regiment was later incorporated into the 112th Infantry Division and deployed to the east, where it participated in Operation Barbarossa. The division later saw action in the Battle of Kursk, and was later pushed back across Ukraine as the Red Army advanced. Reinhard was seriously wounded by shrapnel in November 1943, remaining hospitalized until March 1944, when he was released and determined to no longer be fit for front-line service. He was decorated six times during the war, receiving the Iron Cross II Class (20 October 1940), the Infantry Assault Badge (20 September 1941), the War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, the Iron Cross I Class (15 May 1942), the Eastern Front Medal (1 August 1942), and the Wound Badge in Black (29 December 1943).
