(Waffen-SS Soldbuch). Constructed of a card stock binding and retaining 32 paginated interior pages filled with stamped and handwritten entries, measuring 10.5 cm (w) x 14.5 cm (h), demonstrating extensive material fatigue and moisture damage consistent with concealment on the owner’s person during field service, the former resulting in period tape repair, an extensive record of a Waffen-SS combatant in very fine condition.
Footnote: Michael Kurz was born on 11 November 1925 to a Roman Catholic family in Kirchbichl, Kufstein district, Austria. He entered Waffen-SS service on 4 August 1943, initially serving with SS-Panzergrenadier-Ausbildungs-und-Ersatz Bataillon 3 and SS-Panzer-Aufklärungs-Abteilung (among other units rendered illegible by moisture exposure). He was a recipient of the Black Grade Wound Badge (20 July 1944) and the 1939 Iron Cross II Class (25 July 1944). He held ranks of SS-Sturmmann (1 September 1944) through Standartenoberjunker der Reserve (20 April 1945) and appears to have survived the war.
