(Deutschblütige Abstammung Papier). A confirmation of German ancestry issued to Fallschirmjäger Feldwebel and Knight’s Cross Winner Bruno Sassen, dated 20 March 1942. The letter confirms that Sassen’s Ahnenpaß (Ancestor Passport) has been reviewed, affirming that all four of his grandparents are of unblemished German descent, satisfying regulations implemented on 4 January 1936. It measures 209 mm (w) x 144 mm (h). Minor yellowing and material fatigue is evident, but it is in an otherwise near extremely fine condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Dietrich Maerz.
Footnote: Bruno Sassen served with Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 3 and participated in the Battle of Crete, where he was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross. Sassen was redeployed to the Italian Theatre with the rest of his regiment, and later received the German Cross in Gold. He ended the war with the rank of Leutnant, and became a doctor of veterinary medicine. He died in Bad Pyrmont, Lower Saxony, on 19 June 2006.
