A Waffen-SS Summary Report to a Member of the 9th SS Mountain Artillery Regiment
A service summary report of Franz Brüggemann of the 9th SS Gebirgs Artillerie Regiment 6. Brüggemann was a SS-Oberscharführer (Senior Squad Leader) of the 9th SS Mountain Artillery Regiment 6. He was born on September 5, 1919 in Westtünnen, Unna-Arnsberg, in Germany, to his mother, Luise Brüggemann, (Adolf-Hitlerstrasse 87, Westtünnen/Westfalen,), and was raised a catholic. His civilian job was labourer. He volunteered for Waffen-SS on May 7, 1940, and was trained as a Sanitätsdienst Gefreiter (S.D.G - Corporal of the Medical Service), thereby agreeing to committing 12 years of mandatory service to the Waffen-SS. During his service in the Waffen-SS in Finland, he was awarded the Iron Cross Second Class (1939) on November 11, 1941, the Infantry Assault Badge in Bronze on May 1, 1942, and the Black Grade Wound Badge on February 2, 1943; signed and stamped by the Einheitsführer on May 5, 1944. Attached are two pages; one is a request to transfer, the other a request of the local SS Headquarters for Brüggemans’s transfer documents, each signed by the respective SS-Hauptsturmführer. Measuring 293 mm x 208 mm; some light fading of the ink, with some signs of age, otherwise very fine condition.
