Footnote: Unterscharfuhrer Friedrich Wilhelm Meyer was born on January15, 1918 in Obermegersheim to a protestant family. Son of Karl Meyer, he worked as a farmer and was unmarried. He stood at 173 centimetres tall, was thin and beardless. He joined the SS on April 12th, 1939 and was posted to 12th SS Artillery. He was promoted on April 30th and June 5th of 1940, and April 1st of 1943. He was never punished and showed good behaviour. On February 12th, 1943 he was reassigned to the SS reserve pool in Nuremburg. He was trained in the handling of secrets and in espionage. He participated in the invasions of Poland, France, Yugoslavia, and Russia. He won an Iron Cross II. Class, and an Eastern Front Medal. He was also specially trained as a gunner.
