Footnote: Karl Böhmer was born August 17th, 1912 in Andernach near Koblenz. He was 168 cm tall, thin build, with dark blond hair and grey eyes. He also had a scar between his eyes. He was married to Maris, nee Schneider. These personal details were confirmed and stamped on March 5th, 1940 by the commander of the 463rd Reserve Infantry Battalion. He then served in the east with Tank Destroyer Battalions 33 and 263, and in the 72nd Reserve Grenadier Battalion. On September 3rd, 1941 he received the Wound Badge in Black. On February 26th, 1942 he received the Iron Cross 2nd Class. In August of 1942 he also received the Eastern Front Medal.
