Two documents to NCO Herrmann Schüller, both measuring 210x149mm, near mint condition with folding crease.
The award certificate states that Unteroffizier der Reserve (NCO of the Reserve) Herrmann Schüller of the Light Flak Battalion 99 (mot.) was awarded the Krimschild (Crimea Shield) on May 15, 1943. It carries a facsimile of Generalfeldmarschall Erich von Manstein.
The letter informs “widow Schüller”, either Schüller’s wife or mother, that the salaries of members of the 6th Army will be paid to the next of kin. It is dated to Kassel on June 7, 1943. The 6th Army, which included Schüller’s battalion, was destroyed in the Battle of Stalingrad. Schüller must have either been killed or taken prisoner.
The documents were part of George Petersen’s collection.
