Issued in the name of the Croatian head of state Dr. Ante Pawelic for exceptional service to the state of Croatia. Dated October 24, 1944, and signed by the SS-Obersturmführer and Regiment Adjutant of the SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment 23 Norge. Also, a copy of a newspaper article about the heroic death of SS-Sturmbannführer Martin Gürz, the first recipient of the Iron Cross of the SS-Freiwilligen-Panzergrenadierdivision Nordland. The article features a short biography of Gürz, a testament to his bravery, and some details about his heroic death on the eastern front. Measuring 207 mm x 293 mm; four neat folds with a small hole in the center from folding; extremely fine condition.
