The recipient of the War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords is Sanitäts-Gefreiter (Medical Lance Corporal) Wilhelm Keller of the 2nd Medical Company 263. The document is dated to April 1, 1942 and signed in black ink by a Colonel, the name is indecipherable. During the time of the award, the 263rd Infantry Division was fighting defensive battles against the Red Army in the vicinity of Yukhnov (central Russia).
