An Iron Honour Shield of Luftgau XI Award Document to Hauptmann Mayer

A certificate, measuring 209mm x 296mm, near extremely fine condition with folding creases. It states that Hauptmann (Captain) Friedrich Mayer, Commander of Aerial Service Command 1/11 is awarded the Iron Honour Shield of Luftgau XI for his merits in target training methods. The document is dated to Hamburg on October 7, 1942 and signed in blue crayon by General der Flieger Ludwig Wolff (1886–1950), a recipient of the Knight’s Cross of the War Merit Cross with Swords, and the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class in both wars.
