It is dated to June 15, 1942 and signed in blue ink by the commander of the 44th Infantry Division, Generalmajor Heinrich-Anton Deboi (1893–1955), a recipient of the Knight’s Cross.
The Wound Badge in Black award document is named to Unteroffizier (NCO) Schmid of the 1st Battery of Artillery Regiment 62 for being wounded once on July 30, 1944.
