Germany, Heer. The Award Document for the Order of the Resplendent Banner, Grand Cordon of Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel
A rare and desirable award document for an Order of the Resplendent Banner, with Grand Cordon, constructed of white paper stock with multi-coloured ink, the obverse bearing a pale yellow background within a finely-detailed stylized border, in turn overlaid by an inscription in Chinese calligraphy translating to “The National Government of the Republic of China awards Wilhelm Keitel, Chief of Military Affairs, Ministry of Defence of Germany, the Order of the Resplendent Banner with Grand Cordon, according to the Award Regulations of the Army, Navy, and Air Force”, with a dedication from “The President of the National Government of the Republic of China, Lin Sen”, and a date of “1 January 1937”, pasted to the reverse is a German-issued label erroneously identifying the document as a certificate for a Japanese Order of the Sacred Treasure, issued on 9 November 1897 in Tokyo, measuring 534 mm (w) x 415 mm (h) when unfolded, with minor soiling and material fatigue evident, a unique document in overall near extremely fine condition.
