Two Award Documents to SS-Sturmmann Signed by Bittrich; SS Calvary Regiment 1
Both measures 14.1 x 19.9 cm; Date of item: August 16, 1942 / September 6th, 1942. Condition: very good, some signs of aging. Two award certificates for SS-Sturmmann (SS storm trooper) Georg Heinndl. The first document states that he received the Eastern Front Medal (Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42) on August 16, 1942. It is signed in black ink by SS-Sturmbannführer and Regiment Commander Kudmann (?). The second document states that Heinndl, serving in the Staff Squadron of the SS Cavalry Regiment 1, is awarded the Wound Badge in Black for being wounded once on January 23, 1942. The document is dated to September 6, 1942, brigade command post (Brig.Gef.St. = Brigade-Gefechtsstand). The document is signed in black ink by SS-Brigadeführer and Major General of the Waffen-SS Wilhelm Bittrich (1894–1979). He was eventually promoted to SS-Obergruppenführer and General of the Waffen-SS. Bittrich was a recipient of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords.
