Footnote: Günter Braake (1921–2016) received the Knight’s Cross on August 27, 1944 on the northern part of the Eastern Front as deputy leader of the 1st Battalion of the Grenadier Regiment 422, part of the 126th Infantry Division. He was also a recipient of the Infantry Assault Badge in Silver and the Close Combat Clasp in Bronze.
