What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Buyer's Premium

All bids are subject to a Buyer's Premium which is in addition to the placed successful bid. The following rate of Buyer's Premium will be added to the Hammer Price of each Lot that you purchase:

Germany, SS. A Wartime Daybook Page Signed by "Pilot of the Führer” SS-Oberführer Hans Baur

One of 15 pages from a day book, measuring 14.8x19.7cm, showing a picture of “Pilot of the Führer” SS-Oberführer Hans Baur, measuring 6.7x8.5cm. The picture is a newspaper cut-out. The page carries Baur’s rank titles (SS-Oberführer, Flugkapitän des Führers) and signature in blue ink. From the collection of an autograph collector. Footnote: Hans Baur (1897–1993) was Hitler’s personal pilot (since 1933) and close friend, and SS-Gruppenführer and Lieutenant General of the Waffen-SS (since February 24, 1945). He was also the head of the Government Squadron, tasked to provide flights and pilots for Hitler’s cabinet and generals. Hitler was Baur’s best man when he married for the second time. Baur stayed with Hitler in the Führerbunker during the last days of the war until Hitler committed suicide, even though Hitler had suggested he escape by plane. Baur was captured and spent 10 years as a POW in Russia and another 2 in France after that. He was appointed SS-Oberführer on September 9, 1934, and made SS-Brigadeführer in early 1944, which dates this item to post 1934 and pre 1944. Baur was awarded the Iron Cross First Class for bravery in the First War and numerous awards during the Second War.
