This particular pages contains the picture and signature of SS-Hauptsturmführer Walter Reder. The page itself measures 7.9x13.3cm. The picture is a newspaper cut-out. Below the cutout is states "He received the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross on April 4, 1943 for exemplary leadership during the Third Battle of Kharkov. However, below the picture the date March 28, 1943 is given." The page carries the date, October 19, 1940, and Hanke’s signature in black ink.
Footnote: Walter Reder (1915–1991) lead a battalion in the 3rd SS Panzer Division “Totenkopf” (Death’s Head). At the end of the war he held the rank of SS-Sturmbannführer.
