Footnote: Anny Ondra (1902–1987), born Anna Sophie Ondráková, was a Czech-Austrian actress, born in Tarnow, Galicia, Austro-Hungarian empire (modern day Poland). She started acting at the age of 16, and married German boxing legend Max Schmeling in 1933. Their marriage lasted for 54 years until she died. She starred in the two Hitchcock movies, “The Manxman” and “Blackmail” (both 1929). The Nazis tried to present Schmeling and Ondra as a German model couple in their propaganda, but both largely managed to refuse being used in that way against their will.
