(Heer Porträt). A large, framed wartime studio portrait depicting a Gebirgsjäger Enlisted soldier in uniform and wearing a Bergmütze, with the edelweiss sleeve shield clearly visible, set on a large card stock backer, above a handwritten inscription bearing the soldier’s name, indicating that he was killed in action on 25 May 1942 during the Second Battle of Kharkov, with an additional Iserlohn studio mark, set within a wartime black frame with the reverse retaining a mark of “ERNST PASCHEDAG, ISERLOHN”, topped by a magnetic metal suspension loop, the image measuring 124 mm (w) x 170 mm (h), the frame measuring 205 mm (w) x 282 mm (h), with minor soiling evident to the paper backer, a personalized and attributed memento to a fallen soldier in near extremely fine condition.
