Footnote: Otto Kumm (1909–2004) was a recipient of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. He fought in Poland, the Netherlands, Yugoslavia, and Russia. Kumm became SS-Obersturmbannführer on October 1, 1941. On April 20, 1943, he was promoted to SS-Standartenführer, which dates this item to somewhere between late 1941 and early 1943. Kumm eventually made it to SS-Brigadeführer and Major General of the Waffen-SS.
