Germany, Third Reich. A Signed & Framed Portrait of Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring & Emmy Sonnemann
(Hermann Göring Porträt mit Unterschrift). A superb portrait depicting Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring and his wife Emmy (née Sonnemann), with the former in the uniform of a General der Flieger and with the Pour le Mérite, 1914 Iron Cross I Class, Aircrew Badge, Order of the Redeemer, and Order of Adolphe of Nassau clearly visible, in addition to Göring’s Luftwaffe General’s sword, with the lower half of each overlaid by the handwritten signatures of Göring and Sonnemann in black ink, the reverse bearing the mark of a Berlin studio and stamp forbidding reproduction, taped to a white card stock insert, the portrait measuring 175 mm (w) x 225 mm (h) (not inclusive of insertion), accompanied by a period original frame, constructed of silver and retaining a glass face, the reverse with a heavy card stock backer lined with dark green vinyl and retaining six swivel clips for flap closure, the lower edge stamped with a crown and crescent moon indicating German manufacture, a silver content number of “835”, and a hallmark of Gebrüder Kühn, Schwäbisch Gmünd, measuring 248 mm (w) x 325 mm (h), the reverse clips have loosened, an otherwise exceptional dedicated image and frame in extremely fine condition.
