Seven Kriegsmarine Propaganda Postcards
Seven postcards, five measuring approximately 140x90mm, two measuring 147x97mm, all (near) extremely fine condition with light scuffing, lightly bent. They show ships with or without sailors performing several duties. One card names the town of Saßnitz (today Sassnitz) on the island of Rügen. Another card shows the battleship Scharnhorst, which during a battle with British ships in the Atlantic off the coast of Norway achieved one of the longest-range naval gunfire hits in history. She was sunk during the Battle of the North Cape on December 26, 1943. Only 36 men out of almost 2000 were rescued.
