Germany, Heer. Two Period Photos of a Wehrmacht General
Both measuring 10.5 x 14.7 cm each; The photos show a soldier of the Wehrmacht, with cap and without. The collar patches identify him as a general or general field marshall. The style of these patches is called “alt-Larisch”, the devices are sometimes called “Arabesken” (arabesques). Field marshals wore the same as generals until 1941, after which they were authorized to wear a variant with three rather than two iterations of the repeating pattern. However, not all field marshals bothered to switch to the new variant.
