A German Cross Award Document to Reconnaissance Squadron - Formal document, issued to Oberleutnant Erich Huck, on September 10. 1944; folded, holed, slight tear on right side, with facsimile Göring signature; in good/fair condition. The document is awarded to Senior Lieutenant Erich Huck. It is dated to Headquarters on September 10, 1944, and carries a facsimile signature of Reich Marshal Hermann Göring. It is further certified in blue ink by Pour le Merite and Knight’s Cross recipient Colonel General Bruno Loerzer (1891–1960). Footnote: There is no further information about Erich Huck, except that he was part of one of the 11 Wettererkundungsstaffel (Weather Reconnaissance Squadron). These squadrons were tasked with gathering weather data. Accurate weather forecasts can mean the difference of success or failure in (aerial) military operations. Therefore, this task was of significant importance to the war efforts.
