A Signed Drawing of Oak Leaves and Swords recipient SS-Brigadeführer Otto Kumm
A drawing, measuring 92x149mm, mint condition. It is signed in black ink. Footnote: Otto Kumm (1909–2004) was a recipient of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. He fought in Poland, the Netherlands, Yugoslavia, and Russia. Kumm eventually made it to SS-Brigadeführer and Major General of the Waffen-SS. He received the Knight’s Cross for holding a vital position for several weeks against Russian forces. The Oak Leaves followed for his actions in the Third Battle of Kharkov. He eventually received the Swords for his leadership role during the retreat from the Balkans towards the end of the war. Kumm served as Commander of the SS Regiment “Der Führer”, part of the 2nd SS Panzer Division “Das Reich”. He also commanded the infamous 7th SS Volunteer Mountain Division “Prinz Eugen”.
