A Wehrpas to the 321st Grenadier Battalion; Wounded in Russia

A Wehrpas to the 321st  Grenadier Battalion - Josef Rieth Wehrpass: 52 pages, in very fine condition. HJ, wounded in Russia Rieth was a Grenadier and former Hitler Youth. Rieth was born September 20th, 1924 in Niederselters, in the district of Wiesbaden. He was an unmarried graduate of a Volksschule and worked as a farmer. In the course of working as a farmer in his youth he acquired the ability to drive a two horse carriage. On February 26th, 1942 he was brought in for military inspection at the Military District Office in Limburg, where he was ruled fit and placed with first reserves. This came at the end of his time in the Hitler Youth, which lasted from 1940 to 1942.  He was trained with the Rifle, Machine Pistol, the Machine Gun, as well as with the Field Mortar. He was posted to the Headquarters Company of the 321st Reserve Grenadier Battalion. His unit was immediately deployed to Russia. In July of 1943 he completed a training program for Junior Leaders. In February of 1944 he was promoted to Gefreiter, and in July of that year he was awarded the Wound Badge in Black. The wound was suffered in later December 1943; it was to his right thumb.
