(Wehrpaß). A Wehrpaß, measuring 105 mm (w) x 148 mm (h), issued 6 November 1940, constructed of a field-grey card stock binding with 52 interior pages, with minor, age-appropriate fatigue evident, in near extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Kurt Spies was born 16 July 1922 in Klafeld, Siegen-Arnsberg, Germany. The son of a machinist, Otto Spies, and a housewife, Rosa (Göbel), he was employed as a carpenter, and was a bachelor and a Lutheran upon enlisting in the Wehrmacht. A document in the Wehrpaß indicates that Spies was engaged in combat on the Eastern Front from 23 July 1942 until 11 November 1942, and was awarded the Infantry Assault Badge for his actions on 7 December 1942.
