A 1897 “Gedenkmedaille für den Großherzog Friedrich Franz III); in silver; the obverse with a rightward facing portrait of Grand Duke Friedrich Franz III, circumscribed with his name; the reverse with the royal crown and the coat of arms, circumscribed above with “19.3.1851”, “15.4. 1883”, and “10.4.1897”, and circumscribed below “Per Aspera Ad Astra” (Through difficulties to the stars); on a loop for suspension; 30.08 mm in diameter; weighing 10.3 grams; better than very fine condition.
