Germany, Imperial. A General Honour Cross for 50 Years of Service
(Allgemeines-Ehrenkreuz). Instituted 27 January 1900 by Kaiser Wilhelm II. (1900-1918 issue). Constructed of silver with gilt, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with a central gilt medallion bearing a raised monogram of Kaiser Wilhelm II, above a date of “1900”, the reverse with a central gilt medallion bearing an inscription of “VERDIENST UM DEN STAAT” (“SERVICE TO THE STATE”), the twelve o’clock arm bearing an integral loop connecting to a suspension ring and period original ribbon, with a “50” clasp, measuring 40.95 mm (w) x 45.69 mm (h), weighing 17.7 grams, some oxidation evident and the 50 year clasp has been fixed to the incorrect side, in overall better than very fine condition.
