Germany, Imperial. A Golden Wedding Anniversary Medal in Silver, with Case, by Emil Weigand
(Ehejubiläum Medaille in Silber mit Etui). Constructed of silver, the obverse bearing raised and finely-detailed rightward-facing busts of Kaiser Wilhelm II and Kaiserin Augusta Victoria, circumscribed by names and titles, the reverse bearing a raised dedication and scripture citation to couples on their 50th wedding anniversaries, the obverse maker marked “E. WEIGAND SC.” for the firm of Emil Weigand, Berlin, measuring 45.02 mm in diameter, weighing 49.2 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt embossed combined monogram of the Kaiser and Kaiserin, the interior with a blue satin lid liner and depressed blue velvet medal bed, closing with a functional spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 84 mm (w) x 84 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), the exterior of the case demonstrating slight material fatigue, in overall extremely fine condition.
