Germany, Imperial. A Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen Bene Merenti Medal in Gold with Swords, Museum Exhibition Piece
(Kleine goldene Medaille Bene Merenti, Museumsstück). Constructed of 14 karat Gold, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a leftward-facing profile of Prince Wilhelm, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of “BENE MERENTI”, within an oak leaf wreath, with crossed swords through the centre, unmarked, measuring 34.94 mm (w) x 37.34 mm (h), weighing 20.3 grams (inclusive of ribbon), a rare museum exhibition example in near extremely fine condition.
