Germany, Imperial. A Medal for War Volunteers 1870/71
(Medaille der Kriegsfreiwilligen 1870/71). Constructed of bronze, the obverse with a raised depiction of Germania, the reverse with an inscription of “VERBAND DER KRIEGS-FREIWLLIGEN VON 1970-71” (“SOCIETY OF WAR VOLUNTEERS OF 1870-71”), above an oak leaf branch and inscription of “AUS EROBERTEM GESCHÜTZ” (“FROM CAPTURED CANNON”), the obverse maker marked “A.M. WOLFF” and designer marked “WERNER SÖHNE, BERLIN” with a date of “1905”, measuring 50 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition.
