A Mecklenburg-Schwerin War Merit Cross, II Class, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with ribbed and pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR AUSZEICHNUNG IM KRIEGE” (“FOR DISTINCTION IN WAR”), the reverse with a central monogram of Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV, the six o’clock arm with an institution date of “1914”, unmarked, measuring 41.62 mm (w) x 46.38 mm (h), weighing 17.2 grams, with minor wear of gilt finish evident, in near extremely fine condition.
2. A Lippe-Detmold War Merit Cross, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central wreathed Lippe rose, the six o’clock arm with an institution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a monogram of Prince Leopold IV, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR AUSZEICHNUNG IM KRIEGE” (“FOR DISTINCTION IN WAR”), unmarked, measuring 41.16 mm (w) x 45.42 mm (h), weighing 19.7 grams, with a spot of verdigris visible to the reverse six o’clock arm, in near extremely fine condition.
