Germany, Imperial. A Prussian State Railway 40-Year Long Service Badge by Johann Wagner & Sohn, c.1910
(Erinnerungszeichen der preußischen Staatseisenbahn 40 Jahre). Instituted 27 January 1905 by Kaiser Wilhelm II. (1905-1918 issue). Constructed of silver, the obverse consisting of a winged wheel, topped by a royal monogram and within a laurel leaf wreath, bearing a raised number “40”, the reverse with a barrel hinge and horizontal pinback meeting round wire catch, maker marked “JOH. WAGNER & SOHN, BERLIN”, with a crown and crescent moon indicating German manufacture and a silver content number of “800”, measuring 52.65 mm (w) x 43.00 mm (h), weighing 10.5 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
