Germany, Imperial. A Regimental Honour Cross for Schleswig-Holstein Fußartillerie-Regiment 9
(Ehrenkreuz). A gilt cross pattée with oak leaves between the arms, the obverse centre presents a circular medallion bearing the German Imperial crowned eagle, the upper, left, right, and lower arms inscribed MIT GOTT FÜR KAISER U. REICH (WITH GOD FOR EMPEROR AND EMPIRE), with six-pointed stars at the inner ends of the upper and lower arms and at the upper and lower ends of the lateral arms, the reverse centre presents the Imperial crown, the upper, left, right, and lower arms inscribed respectively FÜR KÖNIG UND VATERLAND (FOR KING AND FATHERLAND), with crossed swords at the base of the upper arm, a star above, anchors at the top to either side and at the upper and lower ends of the lateral arms, measuring 36.78 mm (w) x 43.33 mm (h), on loop for suspension from period original ribbon mounted for wear with bronze crowned SCH.HOL.FUSS-A.R.9 clasp above bronze cannons, and in overall very fine condition.
