Germany, Imperial. An 1898 Medallion for the Church of the Redeemer and Reformation Festival in Jerusalem
(Erlöserskirche und Reformationsfest Erinnerungsmedaille). Constructed of silver, the obverse with a central rightward-facing bust of Kaiser Wilhelm II, circumscribed by name and an inscription of “PALÄSTINA-REISE-GEDENKTHALER” (“PALESTINE JOURNEY COMMEMORATION”), the reverse with a central depiction of the Church of the Redeemer, circumscribed by inscriptions of “ZUR EINWEIHUNG DER EVANG. ERLÖSERSKIRCHE IN JERUSALEM” (“TO INITIATE THE EVANGELICAL CHURCH OF THE REDEEMER IN JERUSALEM”) and “REFORMATIONSFEST 1898” (“REFORMATION FESTIVAL 1898”), unmarked, measuring 34.91 mm in diameter, weighing 14.9 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
