The collection consists of:
Two German Honour Commemorative Medals of the World War (Deutsche Ehrendenkmünze des Weltkrieges der Deutschen Ehrenlegion). Circular gilt and copper bronze medal, respectively, the obverse depicting a triumphant soldier being crowned by the goddess of peace, the reverse depicting a 1914 Iron Cross, circumscribed by “Fürs Vaterland” (For the Fatherland), measuring 36 mm in diameter, weighing 16.6 and 15 grams, repectively, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, one with sword and wreath cypher for front soldiers, in overall very fine condition.
Two award certificates for the German Honour Commemorative Medals of the World War, named to former musketeer Hans Kneip and to train driver Peter Kneip, respectively. Measuring 247 mm (w) x 344 mm (h), presenting light creasing and fraying of the edges, remaining better than very fine.
A military ID booklet to Peter Kneip, born March 29, 1872, basic army training from October 17, 1893 to October 16, 1894, served as train driver from September 14, 1914 to March 9, 1916. Measuring 87 mm (w) x 139 mm (h), presenting scuffing of the cover and some damage to the spine, body of the booklet remains intact, remaining near very fine. A civil servant ID card for train driver Peter Kneip, dated to Saarbrücken (southwest Germany) on August 19, 1918. Measuring 89 mm (w) x 130 mm (h), presenting light warping and scuffing of the edges, remains near very fine.
A retirement certificate for Oberlokomotivführer (senior train driver) Peter Kneip, from the president of the national railway directory of Saarbrücken, dated to March 31, 1935. Measuring 210 mm (w) x 297 mm (h), presenting light creasing of the edges, remains near extremely fine.
The statutes of the insurance association for German train drivers for member Peter Kneip, joined April 1, 1899. Dated to 1914. Measuring 123 mm (w) x 187 mm (h), presenting light scuffing and discolouration of the cover, and minor damage to the spine, remains better than very fine.
A labour book for metal worker apprentice Wilhelm Kneip, son of Peter Kneip, born April 18, 1909. Dated to April 3, 1923, with entries from 1923 to 1936. Measuring 108 mm (w) x 168 mm (h), presenting light scuffing and creasing of the cover, remains near extremely fine.
A school transcript for Johann Kneip from the Saarbrücken highschool, dated to March 25, 1912. Measuring 208 mm (w) x 329 mm (h), presenting two folding creases, and light creasing and fraying of the edges, remains near very fine.
