Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a rightward-facing profile of Kaiser Wilhelm II flanked by a royal monogram, the reverse with a depiction of a pigeon flying over a seascape circumscribed by inscription “FÜR VERDIENSTE UM DAS MILITAIR-BRIEFTAUBENWESEN” (“FOR SERVICE TO MILITARY MESSENGER PIGEONS”), unmarked, measuring 30 mm in diameter, weighing 16.8 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in better than very fine condition.
