A silver, round brooch, the obverse centre presents a white porcelain medallion, painted with a red cross, bordered by the black-enamelled inscription VOLKS-HEILSTÄTTEN VEREINS V. ROTEN KREUZ (PEOPLE’S SANCTUARY ASSOCIATION OF THE RED CROSS), surmounted by German Empress Auguste Victoria’s crowned monogram, the reverse plain without engraving, with horizontal pinback, measuring 29.25 mm (w) x 37.24 mm (h), and in extremely fine condition.
