Germany, Imperial. A Queen Augusta Victoria Gratitude Badge in Gold, with Case, by H.J. Wilm
(Geschenkanhänger "Für treue Dienste" Auguste Victoria mit Etui). Constructed of 18k Gold (unmarked, but tested), the obverse consisting of a knotted ring, overlaid by a stylized banner bearing an engraved inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), topped by a finely-detailed royal crown, the reverse with a barrel hinge and horizontal pinback, meeting a rounded catch, unmarked, measuring 25.30 mm in diameter, weighing 4.2 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame, the exterior with a faux dark purple exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt embossed monogram of Queen Auguste Victoria, the interior with a padded white rayon-blended lid liner and intact hinge cover, the lid maker marked “H.J. WILM, HOFJUWELIER SR. MAJ. D. KAISERS, BERLIN”, with a slotted beige velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, measuring 54 mm (w) x 54 mm (l) x 25 mm (h), circa 1900; an exquisite decoration with its original case in overall extremely fine condition.
