Germany, Imperial. A Rare Silver Meat Tray from the Household of Kaiser Wilhelm II, by Gebrüder Friedländer

A rare and ornate meat tray from the household service of Kaiser Wilhelm II, constructed of silver, the obverse presenting as a cascading oval dish, with gently scalloped edges, the obverse featuring designs consisting of a wreathed intermittently wrapped with ribbons, in turn joined at regular intervals by bunches of grapes emanating from leaves, topped by a finely-engraved monogram of Kaiser Wilhelm II, the reverse bearing a manufacture date of “1892” a maker’s mark of “GEBR. FRIEDLÄNDER” for the Berlin-based silversmith then enjoying royal patronage, a crown and crescent moon indicating German manufacture, a silver content mark of “800”, and a weight mark of “2002 GR.” corresponding to approximately 64 ounces or four pounds, measuring 350 mm (w) x 542 mm (l), a superb example of silverware from the German royal household in extremely fine condition.
