(Eisernes Kreuz 1914 2. Klasse). A silver cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border, the obverse with a raised central W under an Imperial crown, and institution date 1914 in raised numbering on the lower arm, the reverse centre with a branch of three oak leaves below the crowned initials FW, with the original institution date 1813 in raised numbering on the lower arm, marked CD800 on loop for Carl Dillenius of Pforzheim, measuring 42.81 mm (w) x 46.89 mm (h), on loop for suspension from period original non-combat ribbon, and in very fine condition. Accompanied by hard-shelled case of issue, constructed of dark-red faux leather, the interior lid presents an Iron Cross and inscribed ZUR ERINNERUNG AN DEUTSCHLANDS GROßE ZEIT (TO REMEMBER GERMANY’S GREAT TIME), measuring 65 mm (w) x 106 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), and in very fine condition.
