An 1897 Emperor Wilhelm Centenary Award Document to First Lieutenant Bachfeld

Measuring 301x223mm, very fine condition with some creasing, a folding crease, and small repairs on the reverse along said folding crease. The document is a certificate for the Emperor Wilhelm Centenary Medal in memory of deceased Emperor Wilhelm I’s birthday one hundred years earlier, on March 22, 1797. The recipient is First Lieutenant Heino Philipp Bachfeld of the Füsilier Regiment “Graf Roon” (East Prussian) No. 33, District Adjutant of the Landeswehr district of Insterburg. It is signed in black ink by General of the Infantry and Commanding General of the 1st Army Corps, Karl Graf Finck von Finckenstein (1835–1915), a recipient of the Iron Cross (1870) 2nd Class and of the Black Eagle Order Knight’s Cross with Collar.
