The preliminary Iron Cross 2nd Class certificate is names to Gefreiter (lance corporal) Georg Müller, born March 13, 1877, of the 11th Company of Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment No. 12. It is dated to July 27, 1916 and signed in black ink by the commanding General of the 1st Bavarian Reserve Corps, Karl von Fasbender (1852-1933), a recipient of the Pour le Mérite and the Grand Cross of the Bavarian Military Max Joseph Order, and the Order’s Great Chancellor from 1921 to 1932. Measuring 145 mm (w) x 234 mm (h), presenting overall creasing and two minor tears, remains better than fine.
