Germany, Imperial. A Promotion Document Signed by Kaiser Wilhelm II
(Beförderungsdokument mit Kaiser Wilhelm II Unterschrift). A rare and historically-significant promotion document, constructed of off-white paper with black ink, featuring a carefully-inscribed inscription dedicated to Dr. Theodor Wiegand, a classical archaeologist who conducted extensive excavations of Hellenistic ruins in Greece and the Ottoman Empire from 1894 until 1911 (simultaneously serving as foreign director of the Berlin museums in Constantinople), closing with the elaborate handwritten signature of Kaiser Wilhelm II and dated 17 November 1911 (shortly before Wiegand assumed the position of Director of the Department of Antiquities of Berlin museums, later overseeing the construction of the Pergamon Museum), measuring 21 cm (w) x 33 cm (h), with minor material fatigue evident, in extremely fine condition, accompanied by a certified of authenticity issued by Alexander Historical Auctions, dated 10 September 2021.
