Germany, Imperial. A Franco-Prussian War Commemorative Photo Album

(Deutsch-Franzözischer Krieg Fotoalbum). A well-preserved Franco-Prussian War commemorative photo album, constructed of a wooden binding with a black leather exterior liner, locking closed with dual functional bronze snap buttons, the cover bearing an oval bronze disc awaiting the application of a dedication or engraving, circumscribed by an embossed inscriptions of “KRIEGS-ALBUM 1870 & 1871” (“WAR ALBUM 187 & 1871”), above initials “N.H.”, the interior featuring 25 non-paginated card stock pages with space for four images on each side, each featuring an inscription for a matching image to be added to the album, the cover page featuring a handwritten owner’s name of “L. SCHACHT”, a dated of “1893”, and additional dedication of “HAMBURG 1904”, measuring 225 mm (w) x 275 mm (h), with age-appropriate material fatigue evident, including oxidation of the bronze elements and some wear to the leather and card stock, an incomplete album in overall very fine condition.
