Measuring 86x135mm, better than very fine condition with light scuffing and discolouration/soiling. It is dated to Constance on September 25, 1877.
Footnote: Stefan Gehring was born on December 24, 1854 in Sasbach on the edge of the Black Forest, Grand Duchy of Baden. He became a tailor before being drafted into military service on December 13, 1874 and joined the 2nd Company of the 6th Baden Infantry Regiment No. 114. Gehring was trained as a cutter in the regiment’s workshop. On September 25, 1877 he was discharged into the reserve and returned home. In 1882 Gehring became a member of the Baden Landwehr (homeland militia).
