A rare wartime signed postcard depicting Manfred von Richthofen (the “Red Baron”), featuring a studio portrait of the legendary fighter ace, in uniform and with an array of decorations including the Pour le Mérite clearly visible, the lower half of the image overlaid by von Richthofen's signature in clear black ink, featuring studio marks indicating that the postcard was issued as part of a series of notable wartime figures from the firm of W. Sanke, Berlin, measuring 86 mm (w) x 136 mm (h), pasted to a black card stock backer measuring 106 mm (w) x 155 mm (h) which has been cut out from previous album display, with fading evident to the border of the postcard, a rare dedicated image in overall extremely fine condition.
